How to Make Crispy Air Fried Fresh Mozzarella

Prepare a sheet pan lined with foil or parchment paper and wire rack. In a large ziploc baggie, combine panko breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, dried parsley, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Use a rolling pin or kitchen mallet to crush the breadcrumbs to finer crumbs.

breading station

Setup a breading station. To one medium sized bowl, add flour. To another medium bowl, lightly whisk eggs using a fork or whisk. Pour the panko breadcrumb mixture to another medium sized bowl.

breading station

Start with dipping one slice of cheese in the flour, until lightly coated and shaking off any excess. Next, dip the coated cheese into the whisked eggs making sure that it is completely coated enough so that the breadcrumbs will stick to the cheese. Then dip the cheese into the breadcrumbs until well coated. Repeat with dipping cheese back into the whisked eggs, then completely coat with breadcrumbs again. It is best to double coat each cheese slice so that it creates an extra crispy layer and keeps the cheese from oozing out when frying. Place the breaded cheese on prepared pan. Repeat with remaining cheese slices, working one by one.

Chill breaded cheese in freezer for about 1 hour prior to baking.

Preheat airfryer for about 5 minutes at 390 degrees F. Spray each side of the breaded cheese with cooking spray and sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Place breaded cheese in airfryer and cook 6-8 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, gently flipping halfway through. Garnish with sprinkling more parmesan cheese over a side of warm marinara and the fried cheesy bites. Yummy!
